Love, Justice, & Generosity
I will live and die on the hill of hosting dinners, MLK wisdom, and ice cream generosity.
On Love:

Pajama Night Dinner | 9/6/23
I will live and die on the hill of hosting dinners. I am convinced that a family-style dinner is one of the best ways to build and foster community. Turns out the love language of food is universal. When people first show up, they’re somewhat awkward, not knowing what to talk about. Although, after some good food, good conversations, and good music, if you do it right, they’ll be laughing and singing karaoke songs during the clean up party. I believe a good meal with good people is one of the most powerful ways to love and be loved. I couldn’t recommend it to you more. Start small, keep it cheap, and you can build from there. I promise you, it’s worth it.
On Justice:
“There comes a time when one must take a position that is neither safe, nor politic, nor popular, but he must do it because his conscience tells him it is right”
On Generosity:

Chad and his ice cream truck
I work for Every Child Oregon, an initiative recruiting foster parents for kids in foster care across the state of Oregon. My co-worker, Joanna, reached out to a man named Chad who owns an ice cream shop called 50 Licks to see if he wanted to get involved. He did. Chad ended up donating ice cream to ODHS case workers who serve kids in foster care. Chad personally drove his ice cream truck to seven different offices over the course of a week, handing out dozens of ice cream cones, all to show appreciation to the people who rarely receive it for the hard work they do. Now that is generosity.
A question for the day:
What is one thing you’re grateful for today?
Resource of the Week:
If you don’t already, I recommend you buy and use a journal. Moleskine is my favorite brand and tends to be durable over time. Aristotle once said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.”
